What To Do When You Spill Liquid On Your Laptop
How to avoid serious damage to your laptop:
- The most important thing to do right away is shut the laptop off, you want to remove all power from the system. Unplug the power supply and remove the battery.
- Turn the laptop upside down to avoid liquid getting further into the laptop. You don’t want the spill to reach any of the more important/expensive parts such as the motherboard. If you can, wait as long as possible for any liquid to dry, this could take a full day.
- The best thing to do at this point is to contact a computer repair shop to take your laptop to so they can completely take apart, clean and dry all the internal components.
Hopefully the laptop will power on after being cleaned and dried. If it doesn’t power on you may need to have the motherboard replaced or at least data recovered from the hard drive.
